FrequentlyAsked Questions

"People are always blaming circumstances for what they are. I don't believe in circumstances. The people who get a head in this life are the people who go out and look for the right circumstances and if they can't find them, they create them."

How is Coaching different from Therapy or Counselling?

In very simplistic terms it is a question of focus. Both Therapy and Counselling focus on past experiences to help move the client forward. Coaching draws a line under those experiences and focus's on where you are now and where you want to be. This is not to deny the effect that past experience can have on an individual but to move away from the pain of continually reliving those experiences in the name of understanding.

Coaching is an awareness of the past but a focus on the future. And as the enigmatic Paul Mc Kenna once said "The future is a great place to get interested in on account of the fact that this is where you are going to be spending most of your time."

How is Coaching different from Mentoring or Consultancy?

In short both Mentoring and Consultancy are dependent on Industry or task specific knowledge. Coaching makes no claim to have all the answers to every task or industry specific challenge, that would be ridiculous. But what it does have is an understanding of what underpins every one of these industry and task specific challenges. Human perception. The application of powerful questions and effective listening skills allow people to see things from a different perspective.

How do I know if Coaching can help me?

"If you keep doing what you have always done, you will keep getting what you have always got. If you want something different to happen then do something different."

Coaching is different. It is the catalyst of change and it is the support mechanism to see through those changes.

Ask yourself, do you begin each day with an eager enthusiasm for the day ahead?, do you have a clear plan of where you are and where you want to be one week, one month, one year from now?
